Open Source Days 2010

The conference 'Open Source Days 2010', held 5th and 6th of March 2010, brought together professionals and users of Open Source Software from throughout the country. The IT University of Copenhagen hosted this annual conference, which has its roots going back to 1998. The conference highlights the latest trends in open source and is currently the largest of its kind in Scandinavia.

Press Officer Kristian Vilmann was very happy. He said 'The economic downturn caused a lot of uncertainty for the planning of the Open Source Days 2010, but we have met with a very positive attitude among firms within the open source comunity and have registered a growth in the number of exhibitors compared to the last major conference, which was a surprising and very gratifying. There were obviously a number of recurring exhibitors, but this year there were also many new participants, such as Nokia and One.com. The range of new exhibitors is proof that Danish IT vendors are accepting Open Source, and that there is significant growth potential in offering open source-based solutions. Many customers are seeking open source solutions because the license form gives them the freedom to customize the software.'

Xcompetence A / S has not previously participated in Open Source Days, but Kate Holmstrup said: 'Xcompetence A / S has for many years worked with open source and started, together with a partner, to contribute to the development of Process Maker 3 years ago. ProcessMaker has been a great success in the global market and will now be actively marketed in Europe. That is why Open Source Days is the perfect place to meet other OSS companies and potential customers, but not least, Open Source Days has a good reputation. OpenSource Days 2010 is a place for developers and users who will be at the forefront and become successful.'
